Jane’s practice focuses on environmental law, litigation, and regulatory compliance matters. She has experience dealing with the National Environmental Policy Act, Oil Pollution Act, Clean Water Act, natural resource damage assessments, state underground storage tank (UST) regulations, various pipeline regulations, and state common law claims related to environmental pollution. Her biology background gives her a greater understanding in environmental cases where science and law necessarily intersect.
Since 2011, Jane has assisted the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources with its assessment and restoration efforts relating to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. This has included litigation and negotiation with both potentially responsible parties (PRPs) and environmental non-governmental organizations (NGOs); drafting multiple restoration plans, environmental assessments, environmental impact statements, and public outreach documents; and ensuring compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
Jane also manages general litigation and appellate matters for a variety of business clients and individuals and has experience in both multidistrict (MDL) and complex litigation. She has developed a niche practice in equine law, helping clients with various aspects of equine ownership and business, including sales contracts, boarding agreements, ownership disputes, and various liability issues.
Jane is a Registered Mediator with the State of Alabama and has extensive appellate practice experience.
